A Secret Service agent walks into a church…It sounds like the beginning of a joke, but this is a part of my story. I was raised in the church as a preacher’s kid, left the church as an adult, and came back to church for one reason: to meet a woman, who later turned out to be my wife. I committed my life to following the life and teachings of Jesus, and that life ultimately led me into pastoral ministry. My wife Jennifer is not only the reason I came back to church, but she and our three children (Macy, Charley, and Kia) continue to encourage and support my calling to ministry.
After spending the early part of my career in law enforcement, I have a heart to help people come to know and experience new life that comes by living as Jesus did and as he taught. In John 10:10 Jesus is quoted, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” I have found this to be true in my own life, and I long to share the hope of this new life with others so they may experience that abundant quality of life with Jesus Christ.
Give me a call, text, or email if you ever need someone to drink coffee, talk movies or sports (especially Grizzlies, Cubs, Titans, and Kentucky Wildcats), or wrestle with some of our life’s bigger questions. Life is a team sport. If you are looking for a team to come alongside you, Colonial Park UMC would love to be that team. My family and I are so excited to be a part of this congregation, and we hope that you can and will come to know our church’s deep love for Jesus, our city, and one another.
