Chancel Handbell Choir

The Chancel Handbell Choir is open to all who basically can read music; this choir provides music for Sunday worship services and special occasions.  Rehearsal time is primarily 7:35 pm each Wednesday, September through April.   Our bell choir has been distinguished in helping to provide music for the Shelby County Mayor’s Christmas Party.

Children's Choir

MUSIC, ARTS AND DRAMA FOR CHILDREN…The Children’s choir meets from 4:00 to 6:30 pm on Sunday evenings.  Choir or play rehearsal lasts until 5:30 pm, at which time volunteers provide a snack or light meal. An activity/craft/game period  and a devotional concludes the meeting at 6:30 pm.  During the fall months the participants work on their annual Christmas musical.  In the winter and spring months, children work on the Easter musical which is usually presented at the annual Easter Egg Hunt.  The choir sings periodically throughout the year at the 11:00 am worship service on Sunday morning.  Each child is encouraged to bring friends, in particular those who do not attend another church.

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir serves primarily the 11:00 am Sunday worship service in the sanctuary. It also provides music for the Ash Wednesday, Holy Thursday, and Christmas Eve services.  The choir rehearses each Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:30 pm, August through early May with extended rehearsal times around Christmas and Easter.  The choir continues to sing familiar anthems during Sunday services May through July, but there is no weekly rehearsal.  The Chancel Choir’s repertoire is made up of traditional anthems, oratorios, spirituals, gospel songs, and motets from all periods of music.

A couple of highlights for the church year are the annual Christmas music service presented in the sanctuary during the Advent season and Easter Sunday.  Both special musical worship occasions are featured at the 11:00 am Sunday worship services with selected orchestra members. While rehearsals focus on our weekly service repertoire and special worship music, time is set also aside for the sharing of prayer and devotion. Membership is open starting at age twelve.
